What We Treat
Pancreas Care
Chronic Pancreatitis with pancreatic stones
Chronic pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas that does not heal or
improve—it gets worse over time and leads to permanent damage. Chronic
pancreatitis eventually impairs a patient's ability to digest food.
Pancreatic cysts
Pancreatic cysts are saclike pockets of fluid on or in your pancreas. The
pancreas is a large organ behind the stomach that produces hormones and
enzymes that help digest food. Pancreatic cysts are typically found during imaging testing for another problem
Neuroendocrine tumors
A neuroendocrine tumour may grow slowly or aggressively and spread to other parts of the body. Many people do not develop symptoms and the tumour is detected incidentally. When symptoms occur, they can vary based on the location of the tumour.
Hernia Solutions
Lap repair of inguinal hernia
An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue, such as part of the intestine, protrudes
through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. The resulting bulge can be
painful, especially when you cough, bend over or lift a heavy object.
Lap repair of abdominal wall hernias
An abdominal hernia occurs when an organ or other piece of tissue protrudes through a weakening in one of the muscle walls that enclose the abdominal cavity. The sac that bulges through the weak area may contain a piece of intestine or fatty lining of the colon (omentum) if the hernia occurs in the abdominal wall or groin. If the hernia occurs through the diaphragm, the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen, part of the stomach may be involved.
Colorectal Laser Surgery
Appendicitis
Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, a finger-shaped pouch that
projects from your colon on the lower right side of your abdomen. Appendicitis
causes pain in your lower right abdomen.
Rectal prolapse
A condition that occurs when part of the large intestine slips outside the anus.
Rectal prolapse typically occurs in older women, but it can occur in men and
women of any age. Risk factors include multiple births and vaginal delivery.
Colonic volvulus and intussusception
Intussusception refers to invagination or telescoping of a part of the intestine into itself, and malrotation volvulus is a congenital anomaly that results when the normal sequence of rotation and fixation of the bowel fails, which may result in intestinal obstruction.
Colonic diverticular disease
A condition in which small, bulging pouches develop in the digestive tract. It's common in people over the age of 40.
Cancer of colon, rectum and anal canal
Colon cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the large intestine (colon). The
colon is the final part of the digestive tract. Colon cancer typically affects older
adults, though it can happen at any age. Rectal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the rectum. Health history affects the risk of developing rectal cancer. Signs of rectal cancer include a change in bowel habits or blood in the stool. Anal cancer is a disease in which malignant
(cancer) cells form in the tissues of the anus. Most anal cancers are related to human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Signs of anal cancer include bleeding from the anus or rectum or a lump near the anus.
Emergency management of colonic obstruction/bleeding
A colonic obstruction is a partial or complete blockage of the bowel that
prevents the contents of the intestine from passing through.
Ileostomy/colostomy care
A colostomy creates an opening from the colon to the outside of the body
through the abdominal wall. An ileostomy creates an opening from the ileum to
the outside of the body through the abdominal wall.
Hepato-biliary & Spleen Care
Cholecystitis
Cholecystitis is often caused by stones that block the tube leading from the
gallbladder to the small intestine. Treatment includes a hospital stay and
surgical removal.
Common bile duct stones
Common bile duct stone, also known as choledocholithiasis, is the presence of
gallstones in the common bile duct. This condition can cause jaundice and liver
cell damage.
Choledocal cysts
Choledochal cysts are congenital bile duct anomalies. These cystic dilatations
of the biliary tree can involve the extrahepatic biliary radicles, the intrahepatic biliary radicles, or both.
Gall bladder and bile duct cancer
A cancer in the slender tubes that carry bile, the digestive fluid, through the
liver. It's a rare but aggressive form of cancer. Symptoms include yellow skin
and eyes (jaundice), intensely itchy skin and stool that's white in colour.
Liver abscess
A liver abscess is a mass filled with pus inside the liver. Common causes are
abdominal conditions such as appendicitis or diverticulitis due to
haematogenous spread through the portal vein.
Liver cysts
Liver cysts are abnormal sacs in the liver that may contain fluid or a solid mass of cells. If the cysts become large, a person may experience pain or other symptoms that require treatment.
Benign liver tumors
Benign Liver Tumors. Benign liver tumors are common. Hemangiomas, the
most common form of benign liver tumors, are masses of abnormal blood
vessels. Focal Nodular Hyperplasias or FNH, are the second most common
form of benign liver tumors. Hepatocellualar Adenomas are less common
benign liver tumors.
Liver cancer
The most common form of liver cancer begins in cells called hepatocytes and
is called hepatocellular carcinoma. Liver cancer is cancer that begins in the cells of your liver. Your liver is a football-sized organ that sits in the upper right portion of your abdomen, beneath your diaphragm and above your stomach. Symptoms are uncommon in the early stages of liver cancer. Later, symptoms may include weight loss, stomach pain, vomiting and yellowed skin.
Liver cirrhosis
liver cirrhosis or hepatic cirrhosis, is a condition in which the liver does not
function properly due to long-term damage. This damage is characterized by
the replacement of normal liver tissue by scar tissue. Typically, the disease
develops slowly over months or years.
Liver Transplantation
Liver transplantation or hepatic transplantation is the replacement of a
diseased liver with the healthy liver from another person. Liver transplantation
is a treatment option for end-stage liver disease and acute liver failure
Lap Splenectomy.
laparoscopic splenectomy has become a standard procedure for elective
removal of the spleen for most indications.
Bariatric & Weight loss solutions
Bariatric/ weight loss surgery
Gastric bypass and other weight-loss surgeries, collectively as bariatric surgery involve making changes to your digestive system to help you lose weight. Bariatric surgery is done when diet and exercise haven't worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight.
Upper GI Surgery
Management of GERD
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a digestive disorder that occurs
when acidic stomach juices, or food and fluids back up from the stomach into
the esophagus. GERD affects people of all ages—from infants to older adults.
Symptoms include burning pain in the chest that usually occurs after eating
and worsens when lying down.
Management of Achalasia cardia
Achalasia Cardia is a rare neurodegenerative disorder of esophagus resulting in defective peristalsis and impaired relaxation of lower esophageal sphincter. The exact etiopathogenesis of achalasia is not known. Symptoms include a backflow of food in the throat, chest pain and weight loss.
Cancer of esophagus & stomach
Esophageal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the
tissues of the esophagus. Smoking, heavy alcohol use, and Barrett esophagus
can increase the risk of esophageal cancer. Signs and symptoms of
esophageal cancer are weight loss and painful or difficult swallowing.
Proctology & Laser Surgery
Hemorrhoids/piles
Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swollen veins in the lower part of the
anus and rectum. Discomfort is a common symptom, especially during bowel
movements or when sitting. Other symptoms include itching and bleeding.
Anal fissure
An anal fissure is a small tear in the thin, moist tissue (mucosa) that lines the anus. An anal fissure may occur when you pass hard or large stools during a
bowel movement. Anal fissures typically cause pain and bleeding with bowel movements
Perianal abscess and Fistula
An anal abscess is an infected cavity filled with pus near the anus or rectum.
An anal fistula is a small tunnel that tracks from an opening inside the anal
canal to an outside opening in the skin near the anus. An anal fistula often
results from a previous or current anal abscess.
Pilonidal sinus
A pilonidal sinus (PNS) is a small hole or tunnel in the skin. It may fill with fluid or pus, causing the formation of a cyst or abscess. It occurs in the cleft at the top of the buttocks. A pilonidal cyst usually contains hair, dirt, and debris. It can cause severe pain and can often become infected.
